EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. Research shows that is also highly effective for anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, and addiction. EMDR uses guided "bilateral stimulation" (such as side-to-side eye movements or tapping)—to help the brain safely reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and vividness.
excerpt rom EMDRIA website, EMDR International Association
I offer a somatically-based, process-oriented therapy called “Natural processing," which uses EMDR techniques. We work to slow things down, and not just talk things through but to notice what is happening in the body. This allows awareness to come to light. It’s possible to see more of what is going on inside of us, and welcomes us to feel and process emotions and sensations. There are almost always patterns that the body is carrying, some of which cause us some trouble. This model helps to work those through, which results in more connection to ourselves and more access to our inner wisdom.
